4) Brent's dissertation committee loves his proposal and says, "you can do this in a year." !
5) Brent's new job at PNC!
6) Ordination is going well (slowly, but well).
7) My sister is graduating from MTSU!
8) My MOM is coming! My sister might be coming! YAY!
9) My awesome church is throwing me & the kid a baby shower!
10) MB's DVD on birth makes me cry, it's so beautiful. I am ready! (I think.)
11) Today is the last day of class! No more facing 60 students who dislike me because I correct their comma usage when I grade essays!
12) We have a new dishwasher! Sludge begone!
13) It's SPRING!

Isn't God good? In the midst of chaos, when we take the time to stop and be grateful, we find we're surrounded by blessings. Thanks for the reminder to do this. I'm excited to hear of all the wonderful things occurring in your life right now. My best to you and Brent.
Since you made your identity known as a comma-fiend, I'm going to ask you a question that's haunted me for awhile. I generally edit the church newsletter and I'm never sure how to use commas when the following is said:
"On Sunday, 4/23, at 12:30pm, there will be a potluck after church." Is that right? You will relieve many anxieties in answering this question.

r-liz: your comma usage is impeccable in the form as given (in my opinion as confessed comma fiend). however, if you were to write out "April 23" instead of using numeral form, it would also be correct (and perhaps even more technically correct) to write: "On Sunday April 23, at 12:30 pm, ..." because of the difference between restrictive and nonrestrictive. that is, the difference between saying "my brother Jim" (restrictive: implying that you have more than one brother and Jim is the particular brother referred to) and "my brother, Jim, ..." (nonrestrictive: implying that 'my brother' is sufficient identification and 'Jim' is simply extra info). in your case of course, there are multiple Sundays so a nonrestrictive use may be more technically correct. (i think--it might be different with dates, who knows?) but personally, anyway, i abhor unpaired commas and prefer the original sentence.
